Dryer Balls

It is easy to make dryer balls that help break up knots and clumps in clothing in the dryer, reducing creases, reducing the amount of electricity one uses and also reducing static.

One takes an old pair of woolen socks (the higher wool percentage the better) and cut them in half just above the heel.

The tubular upper is then cut into woollen rings which are stuffed into the lower/ toe end of the sock which acts as a small bag. One then stitches the ‘bag’ closed.

One pair of socks produces a pair of dryer balls which do a great job of helping out when one has to use the clothes dryer.

A drop of two of one’s favourite essential oils can add a scent to clothing if preferred (be careful to avoid any oils that should not be heated).

A healthy and environmentally friendly (including the in home recycling component) alternative to dryer sheets and chemical fabric softeners.
